Armored Combat War Scenarios

On Thursday, Friday, and Saturday, we will have WAR! Look forward to a great variety of scenarios: bridge battles, castle battles, open field battles, and village battles. Every other scenario will include missile combat. War scenarios will have armor inspection at 9am, start at 10am, and wind up around 1pm. Our War MIC is Baron Korwyn Ariannaid, MSCA, OP.

Banners/Flags will be used to identify scenarios with archers.

Banner/flag will identify the village/bog/woods and muster points when needed.

An air horn will be used to start/stop scenarios; two blasts to start, one blast to stop/hold. All scenarios will be run sequentially with minimal breaks.

The plan is to fight the first three scenarios 4 times (12 battles), with missile weapons every other battle, and swapping sides for the third and fourth battles. Castle battles will be fought once per side, for a total of 14 battles.

The picture does not show the final map for the war.

Breaks within a given scenario will be only as long as needed to get set for the next execution. If fighters need a break, they can sit one out. However, acknowledging lessons learned from last year we will take a ten-minute break between each scenario.

Scenarios will encourage strategic/tactical planning on the part of the generals. Most of the logistics of each scenario will be the responsibility of the marshals. Tactics & strategy responsibility of the generals and unit commanders. Explanations will be kept to a minimum so the privates/levies/mercenaries don’t have to figure out a bunch of picky details.

Thursday scenarios will be run with mixed troops, balanced depending on the number of troops present.

Friday scenarios will have An Tir and the West swapping as described above.

Saturday scenarios will have An Tir and the West swapping as described above.

Scenario Descriptions in no particular order:

  • Road battle & Open field battle (4X): Battle starts with attackers advancing along the road behind the Royal Pavilion. Defenders start just west of the village.
  • Village battle (4X): Attackers need to capture the village. Defenders may start in the village. Roads and entrances will be marked.
  • Bridge Battle (4X): Defenders start with 1/3 of the army anywhere that they wish on or at the bridge. Attackers start with 2/3 of the army off the bridge (15 yards away). Reserves (2/3 of Defenders, 1/3 of Attackers) start 30 yards back. At the lay on, defenders can send a messenger for the reserves. When a messenger arrives, the marshals blow a horn and release all reserves.
  • Castle Battle (2X): Attackers get four surges, (three resurrections). At the end of each surge wounded in the castle are healed. All dead in the castle leave the castle. Chivalry will remain dead, non-chivalry will form a relieving force that arrives during the fourth surge.
